The Canterbury Academy is a ‘school for all the talents’ which strives for excellence in 4 areas: academic study, practical learning, performing arts and sport. In Advanced Theater, students explore directing, monologues and one-act plays.

Modern dramatic literature and theater criticism is also introduced, and students perform individually and in small groups.

Canterbury High School's graduating drama students will be performing their grad shows, Schoolhouse and Ten Lost Years, from May 1st to 4th! Through pantomime, improvisation, theater games and skits – while minding clarity of voice, stage presence, movement and development of plot – students develop their own story lines and characters.Older students in Grades 6 – 8 use theater exercises, improvisations and developed scripts to refine the skills of communication needed for everyday life, as well as the stage. Students learn to think in ways that are imaginative, interpretive and critical.
