The only other rap group I know of that matches Rick's level is OutKast. original and the best, if you want to listen to rap with proper stories not endless cursing then you will not be disappointed. he did really well on who he would put on this album nas wu tang outkast what more do you whant.

i had this on cassette back in 1999. i was 12 at the time and honestly i brought it off the strength of the video version of "the art of story telling" with OUTKAST (which 4 some reason is not available on amazon and is almost impossible to find explicit).

The Art Of Storytelling Slick Rick in my opinion hasn't received the amount of respect he deserved. rick seems to easily flip flop between "flashy fashion crazed" and "hardcore street" hip hop without missing a beat. The guest rappers are all kept in check and Snoop even ends up doing one of his best raps under Rick's influence.

"STREET TALKIN" is actually suppose to be the art of story telling part 3.....which is why def jam named the album "the art of story telling".

The lyrics are excellent although his smooth low-tone voice makes it hard to hear what he is saying.
Some of the beats weren't given as much attention as the lyrics, but I find myself playing select cuts over and over again. slick rick may have out done himself here its hard to imagine him haven another album this good i think it might even be better then the great adventures.
"FROZEN" with raekwon is 1 of my fav.
